Order Up: Happy Birthday Arianna!

The order:
2 Dozen Mini Smitten Snickers

The cupcake gremlin strikes again! Ang contacted us this week and needed cupcakes for her friend's birthday - no problem at all for one of our top customers!

Saturday we went into the kitchen, baked up the little chocolate loves, made the caramel and chopped up the Snickers bars, and made a batch of buttercream! A special request was for purple to be incorporated into the cupcakes. I tried to dye the frosting (just a little to test) and the purple color didn't come out right since the buttercream starts caramel colored and not white.

Next option was to sprinkle on some purple sprinkles and I think that worked wonderful, what do you think?
Close up...nothing like snickers and purple :)
See ya later little babies!
One last detail - a purple Happy Birthday sign!
Happy Birthday Arianna - I hope you enjoyed your cupcakes and had a wonderful birthday!

Order Up: Happy 10th Birthday Alexa!

The order:
1 dozen mini Chub Rub
1 dozen mini Cookie Dough
1 dozen mini Oreo Oh
1 dozen mini Take Pride
2 dozen Cupcake Pops

A few weeks ago we were having dinner with one of our favorite couples John and Rachel, when Rachel asked me if I could make cupcakes for her niece's birthday party - of course I could! She let me know that it was going to be a spa themed party - where the girls dressed up in their jammies, manis and pedis and hanging out being little girls! (And I'll admit - I'm totally jealous that they didn't have that when I was growing up! Maybe an idea for my next birthday ;)

Anywho - into the kitchen I went! The cupcakes were a baking, the frostings were made and patiently waiting to be beautifully piped onto the cupcakes! The best part of this? Getting to decorate! The colors were white, black and pink (my faves!) - and since it was glamour, we went with chocolate molds to make high heels, perfume bottles, compacts and lipsticks.

Hello little girly cupcakes!
What, girl's just love to accessorize!
Swoon - I want a pair of pink heels!
All the little babies boxed up and ready to go!
Chub Rub "A" for the birthday girl!
Once the cupcakes were done and decorated, it was onto the cake pops! So much fun to mush cake and frosting together and roll them into little balls of deliciousness! Once they were settled, it was time to cover them in pink and white fondant!

A whole stack of yummy cupcake pops!
Happy Birthday Alexa - I hope you had a wonderful day and enjoyed your spa treatments!

Order Up: Bake Sale!

The order:
1 Dozen Chocolate with vanilla Buttercream
1 Dozen mini Reese's Love
1 Dozen mini Red Velvet

Mother of the Year award so far goes to Barb! Her son's school was having a bake sale, so she contacted me to see if I would be able to make cupcakes! Umm of course! And the best thing? We got to re-make Elmo!!! I wonder if they were the best seller ;)

On Sunday night, into the kitchen we went! Baked the chocolate cupcakes first to make the Reese's and the big cupcakes for Elmo. Next up was Red Velvet! While they baked, it was time to make the frosting and then get to decorating.

Elmo Red is such a hard color to obtain - but one trick I've learned is to slowly add the coloring while the frosting is beating and letting it sit! Also, the colors tend to darken the longer it sits, so you don't have to dump the whole bottle of food coloring in there ;)

Sorry folks, you can't tickle this Elmo though!

Close-up of Mr. Elmo!
Hello little guys!

(Note to self - get a better camera to showcase your cupcakes...your iPhone isn't cutting it anymore ;)
Hope everyone enjoyed the little treats and that they sold at the bake sale!

Order Up: Happy 16th Birthday Sara!!

The order:
1 Dozen Cookie Dough
1 Dozen Take Pride

A few days ago, my mom's friend emailed me about ordering cupcakes for her daughter's 16th birthday that weekend. How could I say no? After a few email exchanges, she picked her flavors and off to the kitchen I went!

First up - baking the cupcakes so they could cool. Whenever a cupcake has a filling, I always try to bake the cupcakes with enough time to cool so that the filling goes in without an issue. I was able to get the cupcakes in the oven, work on the frostings and then make up the cookie dough for the filling.

Over all this was an easy order that was pretty pleasant to make ;)

Here's the little cookie dough buggers:

All boxed up and ready for a celebration!
Close up of the colorful Take Pride! I love love love the way mixing the sprinkles with different colors came out!
Good day little cupcakes!
Happy Sweet 16 Sara - hope you enjoyed your cupcakes and had a great time celebrating!

Order Up: Work Birthday Celebrations!

The order:
1 Dozen Reese's Love
1 Dozen Minty Girl Scouts
1 Dozen Oreo Oh
1 Dozen Smitten Snickers

A few weeks ago when we were testing out the new flavor french toast, being that we had a lot of cupcakes, Steph gathered some up and took them to her new office to share and get feedback. There were lots of yum's going around that day...and helped one of their event staff to email me asking if we would make cupcakes for their monthly office celebration for birthdays - and how could I say no?

So into the kitchen I went last Wednesday night to make up this order. First up were the chocolate loves, which was the base for the Snickers, Minty Girl Scout and of course, Mr. Reese's Love. Once they were a baking, I prepped the vanilla batter to make the Oreo Oh's and then onto the frostings.

After everything was cooled, it was time to frost and box up these little bad boys to make their way to the birthday celebration!

Reese's Love and Oreo Oh's all snug together!

Hello little ones!

Minty Girl Scouts and Smitten Snickers all tied up together!
Nom nom nom!
Ok, so we know candy canes are christmasy, but we just had to top it with some kind of minty candy, and since I refuse to keep thin mints in the house, these had to do!
Happy birthday all you February and March babies - hopefully we'll see you again in April ;)
