Order Up: Happy Birthday Kira!

The order:
3 Dozen Red Velvet
2 Dozen Vanilla
2 Dozen Chocolate
1 Dozen Red Velvet Cake Pops

A few weeks ago, I got an email from Val - she was beginning to plan her daughter's 13th birthday party - and they needed cupcakes. Her theme was teal and zebra print! Of course we were in!

Having watched plenty of episodes of cake boss, I have been dying to try zebra print fondant, but I am not a fan of the taste. I found a recipe that used marshmallows, vanilla and powdered sugar. While it is very sugary, it was still better than the boxed stuff!

So into the kitchen I went! I baked up all the cupcakes first, then made all of the frostings, then it was time for the fondant. Best part about working with fondant? Getting to use my pasta maker for the kitchen aid! That thing kicks ass.

Here was the first strip of zebra fondant.

Using a scalloped edge cookie cutter, I pressed out cupcake toppers:
Frosted the cupcakes with a beautiful teal frosting:
And then gently placed the fondant on top!
Then it was time to travel! All the little cupcakes went into their boxes and on our way we went!

First tray for Zebra cupcakes were placed onto their tray:

Little red velvets hanging out:
Had to add the birthday girls name!
Cupcakes and cake pops...does it get any better?
More cupcakes!
Sweet treat table! I loved the color theme and how cute they all turned out!
Enjoy!
Val did a wonderful job with all of the color coordination and the adorable decorations - this was by far one of the "funnest" tables we've decorated!

Happy Birthday Kira - we hope you had a wonderful party and got a little wild!

Order Up: Happy 50th Birthday Cyndi!!

The Order:
3 Dozen Premium - Red Velvet and Reese's Love

What happens when Donna plans a birthday? She is always running around last minute! (But in all honesty, we love our momma, but she's just not the most organized person ;)

Last week, my mom called me in a panic asking if I can do her a huge favor and make 3 dozen cupcakes for a birthday they were celebrating at her work...how can you say no to your momma? One request - purple and red because it was Cyndi's 50th birthday and she would be inducted into the Red Hat Club!

No problem. Into the kitchen I go, and since it is my mom, I decided that I would split the order for her straight down the middle - so 1 and a 1/2 dozen of each flavor...and away we go! Baked up the cupcakes, made the frostings and iced those bad boys.

I had some leftover happy birthday picks and balloons that happened to have red and purple, so on top of the red velvet they went:

Happy Birthday to youuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!

For little Miss Reese's Love...there's not much to say, that cupcake is by far our top seller and everyone who tastes it is a step closer to heaven.

Happy Birthday Cyndi - we hope you and all those rowdy ladies from the lab enjoyed your special cupcakes!

Order Up:Happy Valentine's Day Jim!

The order:
1 Dozen Oreo Cupcakes

Megs strikes again! Meg and I have been going back and forth about different craft fairs, being vendors, etc., and discussing her next cupcake order. Turns out that she decided to get Jim cupcakes for Valentine's Day and I was happy to oblige :)

Into the kitchen I went, baking away those sweet little babies and getting them ready! Since Meg doesn't live too far and she needed a break from the house, she made the drive to pick them up and have them for when he woke up!

So here's some pictures of our lovely Oreo cupcakes...sorry there's not more - I forgot to take pictures!
Happy Valentine's Day Jim...even if cupid is stupid, your wife is still the best!

Test Recipe: Success!

Request: French Toast Cupcakes

For the past few weeks, Steph kept mentioning a cupcake that tasted like french toast. No idea where it came from or why, but why not?

So it was time for some research. Growing up, some Sunday mornings, my dad would request french toast for breakfast and what I remember from having those is the syrup, buttery, sugar cinnamon goodness that it came along with.

As I looked at different recipes, compared notes with things that I've tried here is what was decided. A cinnamon sugar white cake and a maple buttercream frosting, but with french toast, I thought it needed a little "crunch", so we added a layer on top of the cupcake as it baked of cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar and butter.

These little bad boys tasted just like french toast. They were buttery, mapely (is that even a word?), sugary. It was just like breakfast in a cup.

The test batches that were sent to different places came back with rave reviews and that everyone loved them! A chocoholic that we have, stated that this was the best cupcake yet!

So here's our newest addition to the menu: Sweet French Toast!

Going on a taste testing adventure!

They are now available by the dozen($30), so keep us in mind for your next brunch gathering, sunday funday or anytime you need a little taste of breakfast!
