Order up: Happy Birthday Chino!

The order:

1 Jumbo Vanilla cupcake with cream cheese frosting

Decorated in a New York Yankees theme.

Christine contacted me once she saw a post about Angie's cupcakes! She told me she'd like a jumbo cupcake made for her husband's birthday and that he is a Yankees fan. How cool. So I started thinking up ideas and asked her what she thought if we did the logo on the top part of the cupcake, with a happy birthday message, then pinstripes around the bottom of the cupcake with a baseball and glove border. She loved it.

So into the kitchen we go! The cake was baked on Sunday morning and everytime I make a jumbo cupcake, I am amazed at how much batter is really needed. Once the cake was done, it was set to cool off. Then it was time to make the icing - cream cheese frosting, YUM!

The cake was cool and it was time to assemble. The inside of the cupcake was filled with chocolate buttercream with chocolate chips.

Then a ring of frosing was piped around so when the top of the cupcake was applied, the filling wouldn't leak out the sides. (Little fun fact!) Alas, we put the cupcake together:

Once the cupcake was frosted and set in the fridge for a few minutes - we're learning that humidity and a warm kitchen are not icing friendly :) Once chilled, the decorating begins! The baseballs were made of white chocolate with red icing piped as the strings, the gloves were pre-made candies from Wilton. The logo of the Yankees was traced onto the top of the cupcake, then the inside was piped using the star tip. The same tip was used to place the stripes along the bottom of the cake.

Happy Birthday Chino was added in red icing and the baseball borders were applied:

The final product - a giant cupcake fit for a Yankees fan!

Happy Birthday Chino - we hope you enjoyed every bite...hopefully while watching some baseball!
