The Order:
25 vanilla cupcakes with buttercream icing
25 chocolate cupcakes with buttercream icing
Decorated in Princess theme
About 2 weeks ago, Dawn contacted me to make cupcakes for her daughter's first birthday party. Dawn found out about us from Erica - we made her son's first birthday cucpakes - the infamous Sesame Street characters, featured here: http://kliciouscupcakes.blogspot.com/2011/05/order-up-stephens-first-birthday.html
Dawn and I were talking back and forth over the phone and email - she told me the theme of the party was Princess theme and my mind went into overdrive! Pink, purple, princess crowns, wands, a castle!
Friday night, it was right back into the kitchen to get to baking! Steph came over to help out - we made crowns using white chocolate, milk chocolate, a crown candy mold, and pink "pearls". We also used ice cream cones - regular and sugar to make the peaks of the castles. They were rolled in white chocolate. Saturday morning, it was early to rise! Buttercreams were made and placed in the fridge - after being colored pink and purple of course! About an hour before it was time to head off for the delivery, the cupcakes were frosted, all the items were packed up and we were out the door.
Once we arrived at the location of the party, we walked through the door into a princess wonderland! Dawn really did a wonderful job of decorating. We even got to meet the little princess herself. We setup a table and quickly went to work. We placed the cupcakes along the back to make the castle wall - putting the ice cream cones in order. Once that was done, Steph had the idea of making the cupcakes in the shape of a 'B' and '1' - which was great! Once they were placed in line, we started adding all of the details to each cupcake - crowns, chocolate B and number 1's that were made of chocolate and coated with white pearls. The end result was fit for a princess!
All in all - these were so fun to make! We learned a few lessons along the way as well - start car 10 minutes before leaving when bringing buttercream out to the car, make sure you have napkins, plastic gloves and check your nerves at the door!
Happy 1st Birthday Princess Brianna and I hope you had a wonderful party!
